Facial peel
Peeling and skin radiance enhancement at the Cannes Mougins beauty centre
Peels are treatments that remove the surface layers of the skin in order to force it to regenerate and smooth itself. Because peels make the skin more fragile, they are only performed during the months of the year when there is less sunlight.
These chemical peels are based on the following principle: a solution is applied to the skin and gradually penetrates deep down to remove damaged layers of skin. This chemical peel can be superficial: in this case, fruit acids or glycolic acid are used. It can be medium: in this case, 15% trichloroacetic acid (TCA) is used. Finally, it can be deep: in this case, TCA in concentrations greater than or equal to 20% or phenol is used.
A “pre-peel” treatment is systematically prescribed to the patient in order to prepare the skin for the peel. This “pre-peel” treatment involves the application of specific creams and total sunblock and begins 7 to 10 days before the peel.

Performing the peel
The peel is then performed at the clinic. The duration and type of peel depend on the patient’s skin quality and the desired effects. For the vast majority of peels, post-treatment discomfort is minimal, with only a slight sensation of warmth on the skin. The skin may “peel” for 3 to 7 days after a peel, and it is essential to apply a healing cream and use sun protection for at least 4 weeks after the treatment. Deep peels cause a significant reaction in the skin, requiring patients to stay out of the public eye for 7 to 10 days.
For optimal results, 4 to 6 peeling sessions spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart are recommended.
