FAQ

ON FACIAL REJUVENATION INJECTIONS

  • What is the difference between botulinium toxin (Botox) and hyaluronic acid?

Botox and hyaluronic acid can treat wrinkles temporarily but their effect on aging of the face is not the same. Botox or botulinum toxin is a neuromodulator that blocks muscle contraction and prevents the skin from being “marked” by repeated contractions of facial muscles. The mode of action of Botox is that it slows the aging of the face at the level of specific regions. The action of Botox is particularly effective at the forehead and wrinkles around the eyes.

Hyaluronic acid is a resorbable product that is naturally present in the skin. The hyaluronic act “fills” the wrinkle thus allowing it to be blurred and made less visible (especially in the nasogenous folds, lips and chin region).
These nonsurgical techniques make it possible to give a younger and rested appearance to the face. They do not necessarily replace a facelift or an eyelid surgery but are complementary to these actions.

  • What is the duration of action of botulinum toxin (Botox) and hyaluronic acid?

The duration of action of botulinum toxin varies between 4 and 6 months depending on the case As far as hyaluronic acid is concerned, the duration of its action depends on the type of product used. Thus, the duration of action of a hyaluronic acid used for filling the lips is of the order of 9 months, whereas the duration of action of a hyaluronic acid used to increase the volume of the promettes is of the order of 1 to 18 months. The duration of action of the product that is injected into the patient is often indicated to him during the consultation preceding the completion of the injection procedures.

  • Can we benefit from injections of hyaluronic acid and botulinum toxin in a single session?

It is quite possible to perform a facial rejuvenation session in combination with hyaluronic acid injection and botulinum toxin. In fact, these 2 products have complementary effects and their synergistic action makes it possible to optimize the result of an injection session.

  • From what age can we consider a facial rejuvenation treatment?

The facial rejuvenation treatment does not depend on the age of the person but rather on the level of aging of the skin on his face. The main factors of facial aging are tobacco and sun exposure. When the first brands of skin aging appear, a consultation can be useful in order to benefit from an evaluation of your skin and to put in place measures that will slow down its aging.

On cosmetic surgery procedures

  • How does cryolipolysis work?

Cryolipolysis can simply treat some localized excess fat (belly, love handles) without surgery and without anesthesia. A device (Cool Sculpting) is applied to the area to be treated, which will make it possible to eliminate the excess fat cells by cooling them.
The session lasts one hour per zone to be treated. During the session you can rest, read a book or watch a movie. In general, 2 sessions (spaced a few weeks apart) are required to treat an area. It is possible to treat several different areas on the same day.
The rate of sessions is variable depending on the number of areas to be treated and the number of sessions required.

Mammal augmentation

  • What is breast augmentation?

Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure that increases breast volume and is usually performed on an outpatient basis.
This increase can be achieved by placing silicone prostheses (in front of or behind the pectoral muscle depending on the shape and initial volume of the breasts). This increase can also be achieved by fat injection: the fat is removed by liposuction in the belly, hips or thighs and reinjected into the breasts.
In case of prosthesis placement, it is necessary to wear a medical bra for 4 to 6 weeks.
During the first consultation, a 3D simulation is performed in the office to show you the potential result of this operation and to precisely define the volume you want.

  • What is the difference between an increase by prosthesis and an increase by fat injection or lipomodelling / lipofilling?

Lipofilling gives a more natural result but with an increase in the volume of 1 cup. After lipomodeling, approximately 25% of the injected fat will be reabsorbed.
The increase by prosthesis requires the establishment of implants but allows better to adapt the final volume to the wishes of the patient.

  • Is there a possibility of prior agreement with the Social Security for prostheses?

Breast increases are only exceptionally covered by social security. Management mainly concerns cases where the mammary gland did not develop at puberty. A request for a prior agreement will be completed by your surgeon and should be addressed to your primary health insurance fund. You will then be called for an examination by a medical adviser who will return if a support is possible.

  • When can we return to work after breast augmentation?

Work can be resumed quickly in case of office work. However, it is essential to have a few days rest after the procedure (3-5 days ideally). For patients having to perform work with the arms, it is preferable to provide 7 to 10 days of rest. As part of the cosmetic surgery, it is not possible to issue a work stoppage after the procedure.

  • Is it possible to perform an ambulatory breast augmentation?

This procedure can be done on an outpatient basis.

  • What is the minimum time to resume a sport after breast augmentation?

Running can be done between 21 and 28 days after surgery (with a medical bra).
For swimming, recovery will depend on the position of the prostheses. In case of prostheses behind the pectoral muscle, it takes 6 to 8 weeks before resuming the important efforts with the arms.If the prosthesis is in front of the pectoral muscle you can resume swimming 4 weeks after surgery.

  • What types of implants are used to perform breast augmentation?

I use silicone implants (Laboratoires SEBBIN mainly). The size, shape and texture of the implants depend on the morphology of the breasts and the result desired by the patient.

  • How is a cosmetic surgery consultation for breast augmentation?

It should be known that before any aesthetic gesture, 2 consultations at least 15 days apart are necessary. During the first consultation, I will give you the various documents relating to the intervention (information sheets). A 3D simulation tool will allow me to show you the potential result of breast augmentation and to define with you the size and model of prosthesis adapted to your wishes.
We can then, if you wish and foresee the consultation of anesthesia. The second consultation allows, after a period of legal reflection of 2 weeks, to confirm the intervention and answer any questions you may have.

Breast reduction

  • Under what conditions can a breast reduction be supported by social security?

The cost of bilateral breast reduction depends on whether or not social security coverage is available. Social security agrees to take charge of this procedure if the surgeon expects a reduction of at least 300 g per breast. This will be specified during the preoperative consultation.

Blepharoplasty

  • What is a blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty or cosmetic surgery of the eyelids can remove excess skin in the eyelids. This action may be associated with the removal of fat pockets to improve the appearance of the eyelid. Blepharoplasty rejuvenates the look and gives a more relaxed face. It also improves the appearance of dark circles.
This procedure may involve the upper eyelids and / or the lower eyelids. The operation is performed on an outpatient basis and it is sometimes necessary to see an ophthalmologist before programming the procedure.

Breast reconstruction

  • How can one rebuild a breast after mastectomy?

Different reconstruction techniques are possible after mastectomy.

    - The installation of an expander (expansion prosthesis) can be considered after radiotherapy if the skin has not suffered too much from the treatments.
    - The injection of fat (lipomodelling or lipofilling) helps to thicken the tissues and improve the quality of the skin. This procedure can be performed before (to prepare the reconstruction) or after reconstruction by expander (to improve the quality of the result).
    - When these techniques are not possible, it is then necessary to use tissues taken from the level of the back or the belly to carry out a reconstruction of quality. These techniques are called flap reconstruction (dorsal dorsal or DIEP).

Liposuction

  • What is a liposuction?

Lipoaspiration removes localized excess fat. The fat is removed through very short scars, usually hidden in the folds. This procedure is most often performed on an outpatient basis and the pain after the operation is moderate. Treated areas may have bruising (blue) for 15 to 21 days after the procedure.
It is necessary to wear a sheath for 4 to 6 weeks after the procedure in order to obtain an optimal result.

Abdominoplasty

  • What is a tummy tuck?

Tummy tucks remove excess skin and fat from the stomach. this surgery is often combined with liposuction in order to obtain an optimal result. When the skin is not excess ebb, it is possible to simply perform a liposuction of the area.
The intervention is performed as part of a short hospital stay of 1 to 2 days. The wearing of an abdominal sheath is necessary for 4 weeks period during which it is necessary to avoid the important efforts.

  • When can one ask for a management of the abdominoplasty by the social security?

Social security accepts, in certain cases, to cover part of the expenses related to a tummy tuck.
To qualify for social security, the belly must be very damaged and the excess of can must cover, at least partially, the pubis.
Nevertheless, before making the gesture, it is necessary to fill out a request for prior agreement that will be sent to your health insurance fund. You will then be summoned by the medical adviser who will give his consent or not for the assumption of responsibility.
