Treatment of baldness with PRP injections
PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, is a medical procedure with multiple applications. PRP can be used, for example, to stimulate hair regrowth, treat baldness or improve skin quality. PRP treatment is based on the use of the patient’s own platelets, which are particularly rich in growth factors. These growth factors stimulate the hair root to promote thicker hair regrowth. They also improve skin quality and hydration. The treatment is carried out as follows: A blood sample is taken using a double ARTHREXÒ syringe, which guarantees optimal sterility. The blood is then centrifuged to separate the platelets from the red blood cells. The red blood cells are set aside and the liquid containing the platelets is isolated: this liquid is PRP. The PRP is then placed in syringes, which are used to inject it into the areas to be treated.
This treatment is relatively painless and does not present any particular risks apart from minor bruising at the injection sites.
Three sessions spaced one month apart are required at the start of treatment, followed by a maintenance session every 6 to 12 months in order to achieve visible results.
